Joshua Erlick Headshot YBL Therapy
Joshua Erlick. MA
HCPC Certified Dramatherapist (Creative Arts Psychotherapist)

Hi there and welcome! I'm Josh, your friendly neighborhood Dramatherapist. I know picking the right therapist can feel like finding a needle in a haystack, so let me share a bit about myself. First off, I’m a huge fan of coffee, a good book, the theatre, and hanging out with my family, friends & dog. I’m all about slowing down, being mindful, and soaking up the little moments that make life beautiful. But trust me, I haven’t always seen things this way....

There was a time when anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem had me in a chokehold. Every day was a struggle, and the concept of ‘self-love’ felt like a far away fantasy. But deep down, I knew life had to be more than just surviving—it had to be about experiencing joy and wonder, even if not every moment could be perfect. That realization kicked off my journey of healing and self-discovery. Over the past decade, through a lot of study, self-reflection, and personal growth, I developed practices that helped me heal and accept the wounded parts of myself. I didn’t run from my pain; instead, I faced it head-on and learned to offer it love and compassion. Now, I’m here to help you do the same. My therapy sessions are all about creating a compassionate and understanding space for you to explore your own journey. Whether you’re grappling with negative thoughts, low self-esteem, or past traumas, or something entirely different—we’ll tackle it together, one step at a time. My goal is to help you build a life full of meaning and joy, piece by piece. I’m passionate about this work because I’ve seen firsthand the incredible benefits of healing in this way. I believe we all have a responsibility to heal our wounds, not just for ourselves but for those we love too. I’m looking forward to meeting you and walking alongside you on your journey. If this sounds like what you’re looking for, drop me a message and let’s get started!

Some reasons people seek therapy:

Therapy is a deeply personal journey, and there are countless reasons why someone might seek support. Each individual comes with their own unique experiences, challenges, and goals. As a therapist, I understand the importance of tailoring my approach to meet the specific needs of each client. While the reasons listed below are common motivations for seeking therapy, I recognize that every person's journey is different. Whether you're seeking support for managing stress, navigating relationships, coping with grief, or something entirely different, I'm here to provide a supportive and personalized space for your growth and healing. Here is a list of reasons my clients have worked with me before:

How Therapy Helps

Overcoming Anxiety and Stress

Life can be overwhelming, and sometimes, feelings of anxiety and stress become too much to handle alone. Therapy offers a safe space to explore these feelings and develop coping strategies with a caring professional by your side.

Managing Depression

Depression can make everyday tasks feel impossible and life seem bleak. A compassionate therapist provides support and understanding, helping to navigate these difficult emotions and find a path toward healing.

Dealing with Grief and Loss

The pain of losing a loved one can feel unbearable. Therapy provides a comforting environment to express your sorrow, process your grief, and find ways to move forward with the support of someone who genuinely cares.

Improving Relationships

Whether it’s with a partner, family member, or friend, relationships can be complicated. Therapy can help improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen bonds, all within a nurturing and empathetic setting.

Navigating Life Transitions

Major life changes, such as moving, changing jobs, or becoming a parent, can be stressful. A therapist offers a supportive presence to help you adjust and thrive during these transitions.

Coping with Trauma

Past traumatic experiences can have a lasting impact. Therapy provides a safe, non-judgmental space to process trauma and develop healthy coping mechanisms with a therapist who is attentive and compassionate.

Boosting Self-Esteem and Confidence

Struggling with low self-esteem can affect all areas of life. A caring therapist works with you to build self-worth and confidence, helping you see yourself in a more positive light.

Enhancing Personal Growth

Personal development is an ongoing process. Therapy provides an encouraging environment to explore your goals, understand your strengths, and work towards becoming the best version of yourself.

Understanding and Managing Emotions

Sometimes, emotions can feel overwhelming or confusing. Therapy provides a safe space to explore and understand your feelings, guided by a therapist who genuinely cares about your well-being.

Seeking therapy is a brave and positive step toward better mental health and well-being. I'm here to support you every step of the way. If you are interested in working with me I offer a no-cost, 30-minute online introductory session where you can ask any questions you have and gauge whether we're a good match to work together.
